In a bowl, combine the flour, semolina, baking powder, grated coconut, and a pinch of salt. Mix the ingredients together and set the bowl aside.

In the blender, add the eggs and vanilla, then blend until the mixture is light in color. Add the sugar and blend until fully dissolved. Add the oil and blend until combined with the egg mixture, then add the yogurt and mix well.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the batter in three stages. Add the first portion and mix until combined with the egg mixture, then add the second portion and mix, and so on.

Grease a Pyrex dish with a little oil and flour to prevent sticking, then pour the batter into the dish and place it in the oven for 20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

To make the syrup, combine the sugar, water, and lemon juice in a pot. Place it over heat until it boils, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for ten minutes.

Let the syrup cool and also allow the basbousa to cool, then soak it with the syrup.
