    Soak the rice in warm water in a bowl.

    In a deep pot, place the lentils with 6 cups of water over high heat. When the water starts to boil, reduce the heat, cover the pot, and let it cook for about 30 minutes.

    Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a frying pan, and fry the onion until golden brown, then set aside.

    Once cooked, remove the lentils from the water and blend them in a blender for a few minutes. Return the blended lentils to the pot.

    Drain the rice and add it to the lentils. Stir the mixture for a few minutes until the rice is cooked.

    Over low heat, add the fried onion and salt, stirring the mixture continuously for 20 minutes.

    Before removing from heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the mixture.
